How to Download iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1 Over the Air

The easiest and most convenient way to update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS is to do it over the air (OTA).

This means that you can download and install the update directly on your device without using a computer or iTunes.

However, before you proceed, you should make sure that your device is compatible with the update, that you have enough storage space on your device, and that you have backed up your data.

Step 1: Check your device compatibility

Not all devices can run iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1. Here is a list of compatible devices:

If your device is not on the list, you cannot update to iOS 15.6.1 and iPadOS 15.6.1.

Step 2: Backup your device

Before you update your device, you should backup your data to avoid losing any important information or settings.

You can backup your device using iCloud or iTunes.

To backup your device using iCloud, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.

  • Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on.

  • Tap on Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.

  • You can check the progress and confirm the backup by going to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Under Back Up Now, you should see the date and time of your last backup.

To backup your device using iTunes, follow these steps:

  • Connect your device to your computer and launch iTunes.

  • Click on the device icon and then on Summary.

  • Under Backups, choose This computer and check the box for Encrypt local backup if you want to protect your backup with a password.

  • Click on Back Up Now and wait for the backup to complete.

  • You can check the progress and confirm the backup by going to iTunes > Preferences > Devices. You should see the name of your device with the date and time of your last backup.

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi and plug in your device

To download and install the update over the air, you need a stable Wi-Fi connection and enough battery power on your device.

You should connect your device to a Wi-Fi network that is fast and reliable. Avoid using public or shared Wi-Fi networks that might be slow or insecure.

You should also plug in your device to a power source or make sure that it has at least 50% battery life. Updating your device can take some time and consume a lot of power, so you don't want your device to run out of juice in the middle of the process.

Step 4: Go to Settings > General > Software Update

To check for the update and start downloading it, go to Settings > General > Software Update on your device.

You should see a message saying that iOS 15.6.1 or iPadOS 15.6.1 is available for your device. You can also see the size of the update and a brief description of what it includes.

Step 5: Tap on Download and Install

To begin downloading the update, tap on Download and Install. You might need to enter your passcode or agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding.

The download time will vary depending on your Wi-Fi speed and the size of the update. You can use your device normally while the update is downloading
