Step 2: Next, visit this page of DeviantArt and download Windows XP themes for Windows 10. You need to extract the downloaded RAR file (learn how to extract RAR files in Windows) to get Windows XP themes for Windows 10 folder.

The Energy Blue theme was originally made available in December 2004. On April 7, 2005, Microsoft New Zealand[1] had made the Royale theme and the wallpapers for the New Zealand theme available for download[2] for all editions of XP through Windows Genuine Advantage on its website but no longer exists in 2019. Because of the freeware nature of this package, it had also been available on software download websites, such as Softpedia at one time.[3]

For those that are having trouble:download WinRAR from and install it. This means you can open and extract the file. Extract the folder part (Shell) to c:\windows\resources\themesand then simply double click on the luna.msstyles file from within winrar. Then go to the appearance tab of your display settings (right click on the desktop and then go properties) and select Royale, and underneath choose from either Royale Blue or Royale Noir.

OK im kinda confused I downloaded the themes and applied it but everytime I reset my computer I have to re add the theme again. Its also not an option in my themes in order to apply it i have to open the themes folder in the .zip

Please Help. Im having hugge dificulty in downloading Royale Noir, I managed to download just the files for Appearance but not for themes, as In my desktop doesnt change. Surely it cant be this difficult.

You are mistaken. The XP theme described on this site is indeed the Royale Noir theme. The above download contains the two Royale themes. Royale is a vivid blue and Royale Noir is a dark grayish blue. The Zune theme is black with an orange start button and is available as a separate download.

This version of WindowBlinds is free, it just doesn't come with all the skinning capabilities of the new trial version of 6.4. In order to apply the windows xp theme with this, you will need to install the zip file below. DO NOT UNZIP THE ZIP FILE! It doesn't matter where you save it, as long as you know where it is. Next go into Start/Object Desktop/ and click on WindowBlinds. Now click, "Install skin from disk." Navigate to where you saved you the zip file, select it, then click "Open." On the list of skins at the bottom, scroll through until you find the one entitled, "Windows XP." Select it, then on the right click, "Apply this skin now." Your computer now looks like XP!

This instructable has made your desktop look like Windows XP. But say you wanted to take it a little further? In themexp, click on bootskin_free. Install this software. Next download the *.bootskin file on =10153&libid=32 and save it anywhere on your harddrive. Next open Bootskin, click File/Import From File and navigate to where you saved the bootskin file. Click on it and select "Open." The click apply. You now have the XP SP3 bootscreen!

Now download and install any XP Compatible theme you can find. Most are compatible. Just keep that directory path and file reference information in mind when installing your themes. It's tricky but worth the effort if you really want to change the look of your Windows XP desktop.

  • (Mint 19 Cinnamon with XP desktop theme "CinnXP")This tutorial explains in step by step how to install Windows XP theme on Mint Cinnamon 19 LTS. You will download and install CinnXP to make your desktop looks like XP. The CinnXP theme is licensed under GNU GPLv3. You will need some additional programs to be installed and a few steps to enable them all. The purpose of this tutorial is solely to help everybody setup GNU/Linux for their closed people who have been heavily familiar to XP. I hope this helps everyone a lot in using GNU/Linux. • The CinnXP theme package file (download it here)

  • Packages: built-essential git

  • Additional programs: sassc libsassc

  • 1. Install The RequirementsThis installs two different set of programs from two different sources. First is APT, and second is Git.Install packages:$ sudo apt-get install build-essential git Download additional programs:$ make$ cd /Public && pwd && ls $ git clone $ git clone Install additional programs:$ pwd && ls$ cd sassc$ SASS_LIBSASS_PATH=../libsass make$ sudo SASS_LIBSASS_PATH=../libsass make install2. Install CinnXP Theme$ mkdir /.icons$ mkdir /.themes $ cd /Downloads/CinnXP$ pwd && ls$ ./compile-theme -g 20This creates a new directory named 'pkg'. The produced themes are saved in pkg/usr/share/icons/CinnXP and pkg/usr/share/themes/CinnXP-Luna. Still in the same directory, do:$ cp -r pkg/usr/share/icons/CinnXP/ /.icons/$ cp -r pkg/usr/share/themes/CinnXP-Luna/ /.themes/3. Enable ThemeGo to System Settings > Theme. Change everything to CinnXP-Luna.To this point, you should have full desktop in XP look. Some ProblemCinnXP theme is only desktop theme + window decoration + cursor. It does not provide icon theme so you should install an icon theme manually. The problem is that this setup missed the XP icon theme. Your icon will be the icon of the original Mint Cinnamon.Actually, there is a perfect-look icon theme named Windows XP published by Elbullazul the owner of B00merang Project. This icon theme is said as a continuation to the one from YlmfOS GNU/Linux (now StartOS). But unfortunately, I cannot present it here, nor I can recommend you, because it is published without any license (thus renders it nonfree). I really hope the icon theme can be re-published in free license such as GNU GPL so I can add it as part of tutorial above. However, I must admit it looked perfect in combination with CinnXP:(Mint 19 with CinnXP in combination with the not-yet-licensed 'Windows XP' icon theme from B00merang Project)References =272018

The default theme of Windows 10 is excellent but if you are looking to give a new design or look to your Windows 10 PC, you might be looking for some attractive windows 10 themes or skins.

If you are a fan of the Star Wars franchise then the Star Wars Theme might impress you. This theme for windows 10 is one of the best HD themes that you can install on your PC and it conists of 33 HD wallpapers.

The last best Windows 10 theme was on our list of windows 10 themes 2021 and it is still on the 2022 list. McLaren Senna Track Day can be directly downloaded from the Microsoft Store. If you are a fan of McLaren Senna supercar or a car enthusiast in general then this theme will definitely impress you.

This is basically just different colors on the same thing! When is windows going to come out with something cool. If you want different themes, check out They have tons of cool themes, and you can even design your own.

And this gets me to discussing Gnome 3 a little more. Based on years of experience with Gnome 2, I am not really a big fan of Gnome 3's default interface the more I use it. Gnome 2 did everything right over the years. It provided a very extensible environment which allowed the user to customize it to their liking. While I can understand that things are continuously changing, and Gnome 3 is treading into new land with different and innovative ideas, I am also thankful that Fallback Mode was put in to place. I've found Fallback Mode to function "good enough" and I've been able to get it working to about 90% of how Gnome 2 was. In Fedora, there are a few themes installed that when used, get the look and feel of Gnome 2 back. This is a good thing, as it is nice to keep up to date while not sacrificing too much functionality at the same time. To get the ability to switch themes, you must first install the "gnome-tweak-tool" package, then run "gnome-tweak-tool" (as your user account) from the command prompt and navigate to Theme / Window Theme. Play around with the themes and also the GTK+ theme, and you will find you can get things back to a Gnome 2 look. Also, I had to apply one more fix to restore drop shadows to the menus and windows by running this command (as your user account):
